Sun Direct TV Pvt Ltd has announced the launch of its services in western and northern markets, as part of its pan India service launch. With this the services are set to roll out across the country except for east.
Sun Direct is the fastest growing DTH service provider having garnered over 1.4 million subscribers within a span of 200 days across South India and aims to become the second largest player in the DTH space by the end of this fiscal. The company is confident of repeating the South India success story in across India.
Sun Direct is a 80:20 joint venture between the Maran family and the Astro Group of Malaysia. Sun Direct is the first one to adopt the advanced MPEG4 technology offering better compression and signal quality and is the first one ready to offer HD Tv ( High definition ) content. Sun Direct offers all customer premises equipments like the dish and Set Top box free of cost to the customer, which is a practice followed by DTH platforms across the world.

Sun Direct has already launched its services in western and northern regions starting from Gujarat and Punjab, the company plans to ramp up its pan India operations within the next 40 days.
Tony D'Silva, joined as the COO of Sun Direct in Sept 2007. Tony comes with the rich understanding and knowledge of the entertainment and broadcast industry and is an expert of various mission critical components of the DTH business. Before joining Sun Direct he served as the head of distribution for Star India. He joined the Star India team from Zee Networks. Tony was the CEO of Modi Entertainment Networks before taking over as Zee Network's head of international operations, He has worked with tobacco major Godfrey Phillips and consumer product giant Rickett & Coleman in the past.
